Please Come Back

Wherever you are, wherever you may be, wherever you have ran off to- please just come back. Come back here, whatever it was, it will be fine. Just please, I'm begging you, come back here, this is where you belong.

But, in the meanwhile, keep safe.

Tomorrow...

The only good thing about having days like I just did is the reassurance that tomorrow can't possibly be as bad as today was, and even if it is, I'm used to it.

But, you know what, I think things will be more interesting tomorrow.

I feel like shaking things up a bit.

Three Awesomazing Compact Discs

With the copious (yet appreciated!!!!!) amounts of Barnes and Noble gift cards that I received for my long-gone birthday I have gone shopping for some bone-chilling music to fill these aching ears. The three that I bought were:

1. A Rush of Blood to the Head by the ever-amazing Coldplay
This album is, like all Coldplay albums, pretty awesome. Coldplay is a bit of an aquired taste, but I love it!!!!!! :)

2. The self-titled Boys Like Girls album
My first Boys Like Girls album. I haven't gotten much of a chance to listen to all of it, yet I am liking what I'm hearing :)

3. Waking Up by One Republic
My first, and already well loved One Republic album. I have to say that the first three tracks, "Made For You", "All the Right Moves", and "Secrets" really stand out as my favorites, and I love the gorgeous choir at the beginning of "All the Right Moves"

In the music section, I also listened to the new Bruno Mars album, Doo-Wops and Hooligans, and completely fell in love with it, only to be crushed by the fact that they didn't have it!!!! :( I am going to go back and get it though, because it was really quite sweet.

Spanish and Spelling Bees

(Spanish teacher goes up and writes "Callate!" on the whiteboard in large, red letters)
Me: What does "callate" mean?
Spanish teacher: "Be quiet!"
Me: Oh, ok, sorry.

Annnnnndddddddddddd.................... there is another Knights of Columbus (church) spelling bee coming up on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really hope that I do as well as I did last year, I am so excited (if you couldn't tell already) :)

I'm Going to Post it Again

Tidal Wave, by Owl City:

"I wish I could cross my arms
And cross your mind 'cause I believe
You'd unfold your paper heart
And wear it on your sleeve

All my life I wish I broke mirrors
Instead of promises
'Cause all I see is a shattered conscience
Staring right back at me

I wish I had covered all my tracks completely
'Cause I'm so afraid
Is that the light at the far end of the tunnel
Or just the train?

Lift your arms, only Heaven knows
Where the danger grows and it's safe to say
There's a bright light up ahead
And help is on the way, help is on the way

I forget the last time I felt brave
I just recall insecurity
'Cause it came down like a tidal wave
And sorrow swept over me

Depression, please cut to the chase
And cut a long story short
Oh, please be done, how much longer
Can this drama afford to run?

Fate looks sharp, severs all my ties
And breaks whatever doesn't bend
But sadly then, all my heavy hopes
Just pull me back down again

I forget the last time I felt brave
I just recall insecurity
'Cause it came down like a tidal wave
And sorrow swept over me

Then I was given grace and love
I was blind but now I can see
'Cause I found a new hope from above
And courage swept over me

It hurts just to wake up
Whenever you're wearing thin
Alone on the outside
So tired of looking in

The end is uncertain
And I've never been so afraid
But I don't need a telescope
To see that there's hope
And that makes me feel brave"

Musings

* Why is it that you want to sit in the back of the bus and the front of the car?

* When you are dazedly wandering around a restaurant with mussed hair, glasses off, and a sweatshirt tangled around your neck, that is inevitably the time when you encounter somebody that you know.

* Why is it that whenever you step on the WiiFit balance board for your fitness test and they tell you to keep as still as possible that you suddenly can't stop laughing?

9.10.10

Life of Pi

Warning: plot spoilers!

I just finished reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel, and I have to say that overall, it was a fairly good book. I must say that it took me about two months to read it on and off, as I loved the narrative style of the beginning, and then lost some of my interest during the long portion where Pi is on the life boat with Richard Parker (or is he really?!), as I am not necessarily a fan of the survival books like Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. However, the book had its moments where I was reading it late at night and my heart absolutely dropped in my chest, namely when Pi has his dramatic encounter with the other man on the life boat, and when it is finally realized that the algae island is carnivorous. In spite of some of the long survival passages, I pushed on through the novel, and was so grateful that I did at the end. The interview style in which it was written was genius, and the two stories that Pi presents, both the stories with the fanciful animals or the harsh reality are thought provoking and may make a person go crazy with anguish over what REALLY happened. But I am one of those people that enjoys being placed into torment by a novel, (which may be part of the reason why I loved Inception so much), so I was immensely pleased with the novel when I finished the last sentence, which invariably should be the deciding factor in whether a novel was worth it to you or not.

So, Life of Pi becomes one of my favorite books, made even better due to the fact that the nature of the novel allows each reader to have their own interpretation of the novel, and that the interpretation of the novel may possibly change each time you read it.

I downloaded the new version of iTunes, and tonight I was innocently listening to Owl City while browsing for film cameras, when I clicked on the iTunes button on the bottom of the screen, and was greeted by images of colorful stars and animated fractals floating and pulsing around my screen to the enchanting beat of the music.

My jaw dropped open.

It's the little things that amaze me.

19.8.10

I remember the first day of middle school, myself being a wide-eyed, buck-toothed sixth grader, head bent up towards the ceiling of the cafeteria in awe, simply in disbelief that I was finally in middle school, in the big leagues, done with the little guys. My carefully picked outfit of brown gauchos, pink t-shirt, and denim vest was a sincere hope to be a big girl now, to take middle school by storm.

Middle school was done in the blink of an eye.

When I'm a senior, and heading off to college, I'm going to remember my wide-eyed, brace-mouthed freshman self scurrying around campus in my gray Einstein shirt, green silk skirt, and rain boots, excited to finally be putting myself to the test of both IB and ROTC. When I am done with high school, I am going to college, and that's it. Game over. Real world, big girl.

Because, before I know it:

High school will be done in the blink of an eye.

Not Afraid

"I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid,
To take a stand, to take a stand,
Everybody, everybody,
Come take my hand.

We'll walk this road together,
Through the storm,
Whatever weather,
Cold or warm,
Just lettin' you know that you're not alone,
Holla if you feel like you've been done the same road."
-Eminem

I can't wait for school to start again. I am dying to be sitting in a glossy, lacquered chair, flipping through a brand new tablet of graph paper and fingering a newly sharpened, golden Ticonderoga pencil. I want to feel the frigid chills of the air conditioner boring straight through to my bones, to hear all of our new assignments and eagerly devour our class syllabus. I can't wait to meet my new teachers, my sure heroes of 2010-2011, and hang on to every surely important word that comes out of their mouth. So I close my eyes in the lounger by my pool, and dream of school once more. Certain happiness.

Go Panthers!

The Evils of Justin Bieber

Hello, dear readers.

I come to you to warn you of the lost IQ points and surely more limited vocabulary that accompanies the watching of Justin Bieber's soulless and empty videos and the catching of the aptly titled "Bieber fever".

A disturbing fact that I have recently discovered is that the term "baby" was used approximately (depending on if you count the rap portion and the title) 58 times in the annoying ditty known as "Baby".

58 times, seriously?

Couldn't think of another word?

17.6.10

Well, Ya Know What?

At least I didn't accidentally dye my hair orange with acne wash. So there.

Yummy Yummy in My Tummy

Yummy recipe:

Take milk chocolate and peanut butter and melt them together in the microwave, until they are liquidey, and stir them so that they are completely mixed. Pour into little Dixie cups and freeze. When frozen solid, remove from freezer, rip off the paper cup, and eat :)

My brother, his friend, my two friends, and I agree that it is very good.

Woot, woot!

4.6.10

Thought About It...

Yup, think I want it cut.

I just thought about it for about two minutes, and I'm listening to some set the mood songs and stuff, so yup, should be good.

YAY! :)

I love getting my hair cut drastically.

So refreshing...

After that, though, I'm not sure how much more I can cut it......

Hmmmm.......

Whatever.

:)

Oh yah, just went to the 8th grade formal. It was fun, and kinda sad, because I'm going to high school next year and all, and leaving behind all my new friends, and I missed my old ones and stuff. Glad I went though....

I also learned that I LOVE Mountain Dew.

Considering Another Drastic Haircut...

My yearbook picture looks nice, yet absolutely nothing like me. I might not have known it was myself if there was no caption, because in the picture I have long, long, past shoulder length hair, no glasses (photographer forced me to take them off), and no braces (lucky!).

After that, I went for the inverted bob...

And then the Keira Knightley (which I have presently...)

And I like it, but sometimes my mom says that it reminds her of Justin Bieber, the way that I push it to the side of my face...

Not cool.

So, I'm thinking a fourth drastic hair cut, the Mia Wasikowska...

The question, my dear readers: Do you think that I can pull it off?

Actually, I don't really listen to what anyone else says, I think I wanna get it cut anyways....

Country Roads

"Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong"- John Denver

Country roads, please take me straight to Minnesota.

Please, please, please.

Seriously, been listening to nothing but country.

Maybe I am a country girl at heart?

Maybe I am a city girl that needs some peaceful repose in the country right now?

I don't know, I just know that I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

12.5.10

Minnesota :)

I cannot, cannot, cannot, repeat, cannot wait to go to Minnesota this summer!!!!! Seriously, I listened to country music this morning. Gettin' in my groove, ya know?? But I am so, so, so, so, so excited!!!! I get a whole month there :) And I have a super important birthday there :) So I really just want school and finals and stuff to be done with already so I can go there and have an actual summer. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8.5.10

Owl City

Owl City is "A city where happy owls live, work, breathe, ride bikes and fly kites. They pick flowers, sing in the shower, salsa dance, swim in pools, knit sweaters and read dreamy books with happy endings. They roller skate, watch romantic movies, drive clean cars to church, hold hands on the beach and run on treadmills after they eat a lot of pizza. They enjoy vanilla skies, swinging on swing sets, walking in the rain, pajama parties, wearing fuzzy sweatshirts in the winter and imagining what it would be like to breathe underwater. Owl City is an innocent place where life is pleasant and enjoyable. It's a place where pretty owl girl flight attendants smile at handsome boy owls at 30,000 feet. It's a place where little owls sometimes get lost in grocery stores but they always find their momma's again. =]" -Adam Young

Right now, I want nothing more than to be there.

Cow Eyes

Hello everybody.

I come to you with a solemn plea for help.

Please answer my call.

In Science class, I must dissect a cow eye on Monday. And they are all in this big bucket and my teacher just ladles them out and plops them on a lab table for us to cut open and then all the juice squirts out and it is disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had to watch this video of a lady/man (not sure which one) dissecting one, and I seriously got the chills and nausea and a headache and felt like I was going to pass out, no joke. To prove it, right after that, my homeroom teacher was passing out fresh-baked cookies to us during locker break and I didn't even take one because I felt too weak and I didn't want anything in my stomach. And it is so disgusting if you have never seen it before. (I posted a picture of a whole one on the top of my post. Just to let you know, I cringed when I saw it, even though I have to do it for real on Monday, and I have to look inside the dumb thing.) And I would even rather dissect like a squid or something normal because it is not so darn disgusting. And I am so scared and I just know I am going to pass out, if not from the sight, then from the smell. And I really really really don't want to pass out in school. (One of my classmates used to live in Japan, and she already did this, and she said that somebody passed out.) And I am almost in tears as I write this. So, Science is going to be last period next week, because we switch our schedule around every week, and I really just want to be picked up at one o' clock so I can just go home and study a diagram of the eye or something, but my mom won't let me. So, if you are with me on this issue, please help me in some way! I will love you forever :) But seriously, I'm really freaked out. Like really, really, really freaked out.

:'( :'( :'(

Sadly,
Me

(Wow, I am a wimp, now I am actually crying as I write this)
YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!

SO SO SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED!

GUESS WHO IS GOING TO BE SPENDING THEIR WEEKENDS ON A BOAT?

MOI!!!!!!!!

GO FREEDOM BOAT CLUB!!!!!

:)

Adam (Young, duh)

Adam just continues to amaze me :)

Words Escape Me

I have so much to say, yet the words are escaping me. Words never escape me. I need them, they make everything make sense. But now the letters are blurring, like when I take off my glasses. But this is a vision problem that concave and convex lenses simply can't fix. So, I now have nothing to say. Alright then.

Meet Me Halfway

Lyrics to "Meet Me Halfway" by the Black Eyed Peas:

"I can't go any further then this
I want you so badly, it's my biggest wish.

I spent my time just thinkin thinkin thinkin bout you
Every single day yes, i'm really missin' missin' you
And all those things we use to use to use to do
Hey girl, wuz up, it use to be just me and you
I spent my time just thinkin thinkin thinkin bout you
Every single day, yes i'm really missin missin you
And all those things we use to use to use to do
Hey girl wuz up, wuz up, wuz up, wuz up

Meet me halfway, right at the boarderline
That's where i'm gonna wait, for you
I'll be lookin out, night n'day
Took my heart to the limit, and this is where i'll stay
I can't go any further then this
I want you so bad it's my only wish

Girl,i travel round the world and even sail the seven seas
Across the universe I go to other galexies
Just tell me where you want, just tell me where you wanna to meet
I navigate myself myself to take me where you be
Cause girl I want, i, i, I want you right now
I travel uptown (town) I travel downtown
I wanna to have you around (round) like every single day
I love you alway..way

Can you meet me half way (I'll meet you halfway)
Right at the boarderline
That's where i'm gonna wait, for you
I'll be lookin out, night n'day
Took my heart to the limit, and this is where i'll stay
I can't go any further then this
I want you so bad it's my only wish
I can't go any further then this
I want you so bad it's my only wish

Let's walk the bridge, to the other side
Just you and I (just you and I)
I will fly, i'll fly the skies, for you and I (for you and I)
I will try, until I die, for you and i, for you and i, for for you and i,
For for you and i, for for you and i, for you and i

Can you meet me half way (yup yup)
Can you meet me half way (yup yup)
Can you meet me half way (yup yup)
Can you meet me half way (yup yup)
Meet me half way, right at the boarderline
That's where i'm gonna wait, for you
I'll be lookin out, night n'day
Took my heart to the limit, and this is where i'll stay
I can't go any further then this
I want you so bad it's my only wish
I can't go any further then this
I want you so bad it's my only wish"

I just copied and pasted these from another site, so that is why there is tons of grammatical errors! :)

So, want to meet me halfway?

Great White Shark

I have a new favorite animal.

A Great White Shark.

That said, I never want to see one at the beach, or anywhere where there is not a foot of glass separating us.

They scare me to death, especially when they move.

Tonight I tried to watch a YouTube video of one in the dark.

It is official.

I am a wimp.

Lol.

So, pretty much, I just like Great White Sharks.

Later.

Memo to the Haters

Hey, Haters, guess what??

I'm getting my hair cut Keira Knightley short.

On Friday.

Ooohhhh.

What now??

Why??

Mostly, because I like it.

Partly, because I want to show people that I can do whatever I want, and that you need to live for you.

I'm staying true.

Listen to Kanye:

"Take this, haters,
n- n- now th- that don't kill me
can only make me stronger
I need you to hurry up now
cause I can't wait much longer
I know i got to be right now
cause I can't get much wronger
man I've been waitin' all night now
that's how long I've been on ya,"

I can't wait.

I also can't sleep.

Let's go.

Pillow Mist

I want to smell minty and weird when I meet my family. So I recently sprayed myself with rosemary mint pillow mist. :)

FANG

FFFFAAANNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
In case you are wondering, Fang is the sixth Maximum Ride book. Get it. Read it. (Unless you haven't read the first five books, cuz then it will make absolutely no sense.)

Anyways, it is hard to stay with Fang when you meet Dylan. Trust me. I'm there.

Back-Breaking Loads

Don't carry around half your weight in books! I hurts. I do it all the time :(

The Technicolor Phase

Adam, when you did "The Technicolor Phase" on Feb. 2, and you said "I am the black in the book and the words on the pages that you memorize"? That was beautiful. Because the words that I memorize are beautiful. For instance, "For these violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph die, like fire and powder, which, as they kiss, consume." (Romeo and Juliet- Shakespeare [completely from memory, by the way]) I love you :)

Andrew Jackson

Did you know that Andrew Jackson is the only president to have paid off the national debt? Ever? No wonder we are up to our teeth in billions and trillions and gazillions owed!!!

Animal Self-Defense

Wow. I just read numerous articles on how to defend yourself from multitudes of animals and circumstances, including alligators, bears, monkeys, piranhas, aggressive dogs, sharks (did you know that shark attacks are most frequent in FLORIDA, even though they live all over the world? Plus we have gators, bears, and snakes. Joy. Absolute joy.) riptides, and moose.

I am never going outside again.

Hello, hello.

Back again with glossy, sear-your-retinas-out pink. Much better!!

Annoying Virus Like Thing Free Again

Yay!!! My blog is fixed once more :) Thanks, Dad.

Oh, and a small side note. Seriously, guys? Seriously? Can't we for once, just grow up and be big eighth graders like we are?

Ok, bye. I gotta change the color of my nail polish. Light metallic lilac is way too gentle for right now. I think I will go with hot pink...

More Spelling Bees and IB

Hello, hello.

Yesterday I got third in a state wide spelling bee. Not bad, if I may say so myself. I was excited.

Oh yah, and nobody tells me anything. On Friday I got braces. I was informed about two seconds before I got the braces. Um, ok...

I screamed yesterday when I got the acceptance letter to the high school of my choice. Yay. :)

Gosh, this is boring. Not this post (which actually may be boring, but still.) This environment is so boring. Like, let's just hurry this up, ok? Ugh.

Love, Moi

Chocolate Milk With Whipped Cream

Wow. Yesterday they gave us DRY ICE in Science. You would think teachers would be smarter than that, but no. Oh, and they also gave us boiling water. Although at separate lab tables, it is an interesting combination, wouldn't you say??

Chocolate milk with whipped cream on it is not acceptable, but quite delicious.

CCD is in like 2 minutes. The clenching feeling in my stomach begins to tighten...

"Cuz we're faster, stronger, powerfuller than you'll ever be. Yes, powerfuller. You win, after about 3 years. I put up my white flag and surrender in peace.

Oh, and don't you love my raggety, old pink dress with white dots on it?? (Funny how things happen this way :) :))

Love,
Moi

I love you, Dawn.

We all love you.

It shouldn't have happened.

It shouldn't have come to that.

Rest in peace.

Avatar and Elfin Day

I just went and saw Avatar 3D, and it was (for lack of a word that doesn't drive me crazy) epic. It was pretty awesome, and it can be seen as representative of many issues. Love it!

Elfin Day jitters setting in?? Yah. Yah. Sure. I'll bring my own tent.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
SPAZ48 AND CEMENTDRIESPURPLE- I FOUND THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL OF THE GUY AND HIS GIRLFRIEND THAT SAID HE WAS GONNA GO UP WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT DOWN AND OFFERED TO LET US PUSH BEHIND!!!!!
IT WAS LIKE A DREAM!!!!!!
BUT NOW I KNOW IT WAS REAL!!!!!!
AHHHHH!
LOOOOOVVVVEEEEEEEEE!

Harumph

And, to skeptics, the poetry I posted below is NOT SAD!!!!!!! It's actually quite a happy poem, OK??

Poetry of Sorts

Don't mind me.
I'm just the girl sitting in the corner, pretending to be a snorkeling giraffe.
A whale shark gently floating through pitch black space.
A monkey CEO in a Gucci suit entering a ritzy office building.
Don't mind me.
I'm just the girl sitting in the corner, thinking about the state spelling bee.
Thinking about camping in a backyard, under the smoggy stars.
Thinking about Times Square lights, people, and streets.
Don't mind me.
I'm just the girl sitting in the corner, silently stewing because someone just hit her in the head with a locker door.
Feeling anxious and hopeful for high school and the rest of her life.
Feeling jealous, because she is always left on the opposite side of the room. The less populated side.
Don't mind me.
I'm just a little girl in a big world.
So...
Don't mind me.

Call Me Chef

Hello, friends, world, galaxy, universe.

Hello, hello.

I have another favorite color now. Mix orange soda and blue Powerade, and you shall find it. A quest of sorts.

I am also quite delighted with myself, as I have made my own fresh, healthy, chocolate cookie recipe. OK. Buy a box of chocolate chip Clif Bars. Unwrap. Place on microwaveable plate. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Take out. Eat the oohey, gooey, mushy, goodness. Yummers, if I may say so myself.

Goodbye.

Peace out, Zorgons.

Boredom Busters

Hey, guys!!
I know that this is my third post in one night, but it was a light homework night, so, yah. Anyway, if you are ever super bored and your eyeballs are hanging out of your head, go on YouTube and watch the Miley and Mandy Show. (Miley Cyrus, that is.) Especially the one called something along the lines of "It's Like A Tank Top". Of course, you might lose IQ points by watching them (you'll see what I mean), but you'll be so busy laughing and toning your abs at their stupidity!!! Just thought I would share that with you...

Peace out, Cub Scouts!!

Adam is Amazing

Adam, I LOVE YOU! I was inspired by my friends post of a concert she went to, and I just want to say that your concert was beautiful!!!! One of the best nights of my life. "You guys are so kind." "Florida, we like you. We know how to play one more song." "I love you, Florida." "This is my first time in Florida." "I just called my mom, and she said that it was below freezing in Minnesota." "Alright, I'm gonna go take a shower." One of my favorite songs that you played? Meteor Shower. And Imma let you in on a little secret: I cried during Vanilla Twilight, because "cold nostalgia chills me to the bone."

Love, love, love- Me

Pure Excitement

OK, I would just like to say that I am extremely excited about two things that normal (**cough cough** boring) people would dread. My orthodontist appointment tomorrow, and the STATE SPELLING BEE on March 6. I am sooooooooo ecstatic!!!! Wish me luck. (Or gad luckka, however you want to say it ;))

Tidal Wave

Life is a tidal wave.
I remember my armor. I had always thought it was some kind of titanium-steel alloy, ready for anything.
Then it got dented.
Then it got exploded by some kind of hurtling-through-space, violent grenade.
Then it sat in a dusty, old closet, half ready for duty, and half wishing it could just stay there.
Then I needed it.
It reluctantly came out from hiding, still bruised and battered, and dented, and as holey as Swiss cheese.
So I went to Home Depot and got a bucket of spackle.
And I'm still trying to sit here fill in the holes with white, pasty glop.
And it's almost sticking.
Almost.
So I'm urging it along, telling it to hurry up already, so I can be a warrior on the Crusades once more.
But the stupid stuff keeps refusing to dry, and it's getting all over and making some kind of melodramatic mess.
True story.

Let's hear Adam's version:

Tidal Wave
by Adam Young and Matt Theissen

"I wish I could cross my arms and cross your mind
Cause I believe you'd unfold your paper heart and wear it on your sleeve
All my life I wish I broke mirrors instead of promises
Cause all I see is a shattered conscience staring right back at me
I wish I had covered all my tracks completely
Cause I'm so afraid, is that the light at the far end of the tunnel or just the train
Lift your arms, only heaven knows where the danger grows
And it's safe to say there's a bright light up ahead and help is on the way

I forget the last time I felt brave, I just recall insecurity
Cause it came down like a tidal wave and sorrow swept over me

Depression please cut to the chase and cut a long story short
Oh please be done, how much longer can this drama afford to run
Fate looks sharp, severs all my ties and breaks whatever doesn't bend
But sadly then, all my heavy hopes just pull me back down again

I forget the last time I felt brave, I just recall insecurity
Cause it came down like a tidal wave and sorrow swept over me
Then I was given grace and love
I was blind but now I can see
Cause I've found a new hope from above
And courage swept over me

It hurts just to wake up whenever you're wearing thin
Alone on the outside
So tired of looking in
The end is uncertain
And I've never been so afraid
But I don't need a telescope to see that there's hope
And that makes me feel brave"

Thank you for listening to my extended metaphors. I will always be in your debt. Love and vivacity, folks.
Love and vivacity.

To Graeme Preston and Kevin Clawson

To Graeme and Kevin:
I never knew you. I never got the chance to smile at you in the hallways, or say hi. But I miss you. I remember when it happened. I walked into school one day, and I didn't know. And then I found out. And I didn't cry. The sorry creature I am didn't even cry. But I cried today. I don't go to Eisenhower anymore. I live in Florida now, and it happened a while ago, but it still hits me in these sudden waves of sadness and love. I miss you. I'm sure you are in heaven now, looking down on us from the stars twinkling above. We wish you were here. All of us. I'm going to meet you one day, though, we all will, and we will all be together the way it was always supposed to be. I'm sure of it. The Graeme Preston Foundation for Life is continuing to make a difference, and you have made a difference in all of our lives. You are still apparent in mine. We have not forgotten.
I miss you, Skateboarding Angels.
I love you, Skateboarding Angels.
I will never forget about you, Skateboarding Angels.
I hope you know that, and it gives you peace and solace in heaven.
RIP, boys. RIP.

The Owatonna Legend

Hello World!!!

I apologize for not blogging in a while. Like I said before, shift happens. Things progress. They get even better than they are already. Every day, something awesome happens, just adding to your repertoire of happy memories to relive. Also, I am forced to cast away the list that was growing rapidly, of the topics I wanted to touch on. It grew until it was insurmountable, so I'm simply going to keep current. Going with the flow!! :)

So anyway, yesterday I finished Entrapment, one of the best, and most relevant, books I have ever read. You people need to read it!!!! Especially Cement Dries Purple. I know you don't believe me, but you would like this one. Trust me. Have I ever steered you wrong?? (Wait, don't answer that....) It is complete and total awesomeness, told completely in chat. You know, like chat rooms and IMing. I would say that I am 50% Tamra, 30% Annie, and 20% Bliss. I want 50% Mitch, 25% Beau, and 25% Jasper. And you will know what I mean if you read the book. And, to reiterate, in case you did not get the message, READ THE DARN BOOK!!!!!!

In Science, I am doing Chemistry, something super interesting. (At least, to me. Others do not agree.) It is because everything is so COOL!!!! For instance, hydrogen peroxide. We should all know that water, or H2O, is made of 2 atoms of hydrogen, and 1 of oxygen. Well, hydrogen peroxide is also known as H2O2, and it has 2 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. In other words, it is water, with one tiny little oxygen atom thrown in there. I should mention that hydrogen and oxygen make up the human body as well. Water is also essential to human life. So, you would assume that 2 atoms of hydrogen combined with 2 atoms of oxygen would not hurt you, right?? Wrong. Hydrogen peroxide can be fatal, if used in over 3% doses in medicine. It can also corrode human skin. Strange how something so small as extra oxygen atoms can make such a huge difference.

I've also found my favorite element. Carbon. It's actually quite cool. Did you know that it can form nearly 10 million compounds?? And that it is a basic building block in organic chemistry, and is present in every single living organism everywhere?? It can also take the form of one of the hardest substances (diamond), or one of the softest (graphite). Not to mention, it has the highest melting/sublimation point of all of the elements, and is the fourth most abundant element in the universe. Pretty powerful, huh??

Furthermore, on the top of my post, you will most likely notice a picture of David Oreck, otherwise known as the vacuum guy on TV that promises all of your money back and free shipping and a steaming iron thing. I just put a picture up there because he is such a darn cute old man :) :)

Yesterday, I went to an IMAX movie about sharks at the World Golf Village. It was appropriately titled "Sharks". The movie itself was OK, yet it gained me two new favorite animals!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay :) They are a whale shark and a sawfish. Did you know that whale sharks are as long as a school bus?? Awesome!!! I think they even replace manatees and walruses as my favorite...... too bad they are not at SeaWorld... Seriously, though, look them up on Google Images. You may even be amazed :)

And now onto a slightly more serious topic. Not really, but kind of. All of my friends think that they are in love. Yes, in love. Granted, they all slightly differ in degrees of obsession, let's call it, yet they still think that they are in love, and they have sort of resigned themselves to this fact, and stand by it like it is law. (Yes, I understand that I have an Adam Young obsession, and I would like to say that it is different. It just is.) But anyway, that is their belief, and I'm a little apprehensive about it, because we are still young and free :), but whatever floats their boat. Not my business. I would just like to take this opportunity to throw in a quote by John Donne, an English poet born in 1572. "Love built on beauty, soon as beauty, dies." So true. So, my advice: Don't fall in love with every boy you lay your eyes on. That's it. Don't fall in love with every boy you lay your eyes on. Take it or don't, that is my personal opinion, and I am not criticizing.

On a somewhat lighter note, I dyed Barbie hair on Friday. With some hair dye cream stuff I got a long time ago and was not willing to try on my own hair, as it is metallic pink, purple, red, gold, blue, silver, and pink glitter. It did not work well, let us just say that. :) It was actually fairly hilarious, as I was dying a chunk of synthetic hair red while Cement Dries Purple held my cell phone to my ear while I talked to a couple people on the phone, while the "gang" rode by, and Cement Dries Purple yelled "Hi". Spaz48 and I were so proud. Finally!!!!! :) A simple "Hi"!!!!!!!

They also held us after school on Thursday for a little over an hour, due to tornado warnings. Admittedly, two tornadoes did touch down south of us, yet I should not be sitting in my Science classroom at 3:15!!!!!!!!!! It was quite irritating :(

I would also like you to travel to a certain website. However, my dad says I can't put the link on here or whatever, as it "reveals my identity". So, my NJ readers, go to Google and type in my name. Then click on the 4th link. It is hilarious, and they call me a seventh grader. Text me for the whole story. It may leave some of you enlightened. (It has something to do with onion tacos.... hint hint......) Oh, and you can click on the second one too, if you want like the same story but with a picture of me. However, the picture is captioned wrong, which irks me. Ugh.

And, finally, I am so excited for this summer, when I go to Freeborn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daddy is going to take me to Owatonna High on my grandpa's motorcycle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which is where Adam Young went!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm going to walk up the steps that he walked up almost every day for 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which is exciting for me!!!!!!!!!!!! Hence the exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super cool!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm gonna find a way to break in and look at the yearbooks!!!!!!!!! (Kidding... or not... LOL) Cuz he's in there (the yearbooks)!!!!!!!!!!! And he was voted Most Unique Style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And maybe he will be visiting for the summer or something!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'll see him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like, at the gas station or something!!!!!!!!!! Dreadfully optimistic, but whatever!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-A Hopelessly Happy Maddie!!!!!!!!!!!! Love and vivacity.

Newspaper Worthy News!!!!

Hello, world!!
I apologize for having neglected my blog for so long. Life happens. School happens. Shift happens. So anyways, I have a lot to talk about. Actually, I have a list. (Yes, I make lists. I love lists. There is something so satisfying about simply going down and checking off what you have done. Oohhh, and I love to highlight them off. It adds a sense of colorfulness!!!) However, for now, I'll just do the basics, once more. I have a Science test and a History quiz tomorrow, yet I'll try not to rush... La la la.
Anyhoo, today I got interviewed by a newspaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you live here, be sure to pick up a copy of The Sun on Saturday!!!!! You'll see me. I got called at school and it was a reporter named Katie. She just asked me some questions including "Why do you like spelling?" Umm, I don't really know, I just kinda do it?? I think I said something about how I love to use intriguing words in my writing, and how I love that there is only one right way to spell it.
Oops, got to go!!!!!!!! My closing question is: Do YOU like onion tacos??????????????????????? Cuz I don't.

Heroines in Hair Bows and Witches in Delias

Hello, my friends!!!!
I have not blogged in a while. Busy, busy, busy. So, as a result, I have tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of stuff to talk about. But, I'll just cover the important points for now, how about that??
So, anyway, I went to the mall today. It was insanely abnormal and fun!! I got this really cool/pretty makeup case thing from Sephora, and an awesomeness shirt from Delias. It's a blue v-neck that says "Go (heart) your own city." Hello!!! Irritated and annoyed. Totally me. (You should've seen me on Thursday, when everyone at 8th Grade Fun Day was making me really annoyed. I was about to get annoyed at a certain someone that the person next to me (**cough cough** the spastic one) would have gotten annoyed at me if I got annoyed at him. I think. I'll ask her later...) ANYWAY, I also got a bunch of hair bows, my latest obsession (along with Sherlock Holmes and a couple songs...) Have I mentioned that I LOVE HAIR BOWS?!?!?!?!??!?!?! They are like little candy-coated clouds gently perched on the side of my head. Weird analogy, I know. Wow. The weirdness of that statement just completely hit me. Ok then. Anyways, I now have: a huge white one, a medium lace flowery one, a small white one, a small black one, a small brown one, a rhinestone white one, a rhinestone black one, a hot pink one, a purple one, an electric blue one, and my absolute favorite, a rhinestone zebra one. Hello!? Rhinestone zebra bow in short, preppy hair?? How me can you get??
Also at the mall were a group of witches whom are in my grade. (No offense to the witches. Ok, maybe.... but just a little.... you are not better than the rest of the population, FYI!!!!!!!!!! -From Me To Said Witches) They were looking at... interesting.... items. **hint hint** Let's say that if they treat me or my friends badly, I have some blackmail. Not that I'm exactly sure of the most effective way to use it, but, still. I've got it. Although, it may stand to make them more popular as well. Whatevs.
Bye!!!!!!!!!
"Tie my handlebars to the stars so I stay on track, and if my intentions stray I'll wrench them away. Then I'll take my leave and won't even look back. Semester Exams and Spelling Bees

Hi!!!
Sorry, I didn't blog yesterday. Pretty darn hectic. Buttered popcorn, and hot chocolate, and freezing my butt off, and spelling stuff, and seeing Blondie, and watching really strange and hilarious movies, and studying for semester exams, and overall being a crazy goofball me doesn't really leave much time for blogging, so, yeah. And, I'm writing this one today. So, there will actually be correct grammar. (LOL ;)) And thanks to the people who wrote it last time!!!! Nice :)
OK, so yesterday, I won this Spelling Bee thing in St. Augustine. My winning word was "psychological". You would think they could come up with harder words than that, but whatever. So, I now have to go to the regionals. And I'm a loser, because I won. To quote another. It is actually quite a good quote, haha. I saw Blondie there. And, no, this is not referring to the famous Blondie with the music and stuff. It is quite a less famous Blondie. So, don't get excited!! (I don't really know why you would, just don't. Glad we have established that.)
Today I went to Barnes and Nobles to spend the $65 dollars I got in gift cards to there for Christmas. (I don't think people have gotten the memo that I have a Kindle, but I get CDs there too, so its OK. And, yes, I am absolutely aware that CDs are completely Medieval, yet I just love having the tangible music in my hand, as opposed to some virtual iTunes thing.) I got a couple Muse albums, The Resistance and The Origin of Symmetry to be exact, and they are COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY GENIUS, AND AWESOME, AND EVERYTHING GOOD AND BEAUTIFUL. So, yes. Trust me, Muse is almost Owl City level. Almost. (Owl City is, and always will be, the best music in the world. But Muse is a REALLY close second.) Anyways, if you have never heard Muse, then run out your door, hijack a car, and buy yourself some of their music, because it is phenomenal, except for the fact that Stephenie Meyer is like totally obsessed with it and that kind of ruins it. (Oh, and please don't hijack a car. Although, if you do, tell me how it goes, LOL. Once again, JK, JK ;)) Oh, and I also bought Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare, duh.) It's really good so far. Definitely not Sherlock Holmes, though. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle still reigns supreme.
But, to sum things up, things have been REALLY weird lately. Good weird. Definitely good weird. Just a random, kind of good weird, and I don't really know where it comes from, I'm just kind of coasting happily. And, a couple of my friends have some theories that may not be true, but are still fun to entertain in spite of that. I both want it to be true, and I don't. But, whatever. I'm just me. That's not changing anytime soon, so I'm just goin' with it.
Bye!!!!
"Late nights and early parades. Still photos and noisy arcades. My darling, we're both on the wing, look down and keep on singing. We can go anywhere."- Owl City, aka adorableness!!!!! I'm posting a photo of him at the top of this, even though it is totally unrelated. It's currently my desktop!!!!!!!! :) I love this pic!!!! He has the same computer as me!!!!!

The Run On Sentence of Emptiness

Hello, Friends!!
Today, I have a new idea for my blog. I am not going to write it, Cement-Dries-Purple and Spaz48 are going to write it!!! Ok, here goes..
Cement-Dries-Purple says... like, so, um... I guess I'll tell you what happened to me today. So....... I was in gym and this super cute guy that's really short but not really just kinda a little, well first we were in the auditorium watching a movie because the gym was like 58 degrees Fahrenheit. :) so ya. anyways i was sitting there and he and his only sorta cute friend and his other only sorta cute friend were hottly crawling under the seats. But there was nobody sitting in the seats they called their 'path' because that would be really icky!!!!!! so ya. and then he absolutely sat next to me. uhhhhhhh (eye fluttering) Don't you think chickens are scary? I was riding the bus home and then I heard all these guys that I sorta kinda know. They were talking they were saying ok bye i'll see you tomorrow. And then I was like yay and then i was like they are not going to the other neighborhood and then so I started walking home slowly because the Silly Observer was at a spelling bee (LOL) and then I saw a crunchy leaf and i like crunchy leaves cuz theyre crunchy and they crunch and I like that noise. And then I passed it cuz I didnt wanna look like a freak crunching on a crunchy leaf **giggle giggle** so I slightly turned around but not noticeably sort of cuz i didnt want to look spastic like my friend so when I was turning around i totally saw the guy I like like 20 feet behind me and i totally started flipping out in my head cuz it would be weird if i started screaming out loud cuz nothing happened then when I got to my bushes I turned around and he was still there and he was walking on my side of the road and not his normal side of the road. Then I was very excited and went inside of my house where my mom said hi and i was still trying to look out the window cuz i wanted to see him and then she was like what are you looking at and i said nothing as i peered around her shoulder and then i went into my office and stared out the window until i realized i looked very strange and then my mom was like WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT in an angry voice and i yelled nothing and she got mad and then i walked away. The end :)
Spaz48 says... ok, so today Cement-Dries-Purple, The Silly Observer, and i were very spastic. But after all that is my middle name. So first, The Silly Observer came to my house and brought two Dixie cups with instant cappuccino mix in it. Shortly after she arrived, my mom went to drop my sister off for the night and we took advantage of this time. We boiled water and made un-edible looking slop stuff. It was made of cornstarch and boiled water. You should try it sometime. Finally, Cement-Dries-Purple came to my house and we had cappuccino drinks and ate lots and lots of chocolate. As you would expect, shortly after, we were bouncing off the walls. We made our own pizza and had a flour fight. My jeans started out blue and ended up white. Finally, we ended up writing this blog.
The Silly Observer: Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you say run on sentence?? Anyway, I just want to make sure that I am clear: I did not write this blog. The views expressed are not my own. I take no responsibility!!!
Bye!!! Live it up!!!

I NOW LOVE COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello!!!! I hope you had a good day, because I did!!!!!
I HAVE DISCOVERED A SPECIMEN OF COFFE THAT I ACTUALLY LIKE!!!! IT IS A CAPPUCCINO!!!! Yum, yum, delicious. My grandfather has introduced me to this wonderful concept, and my mom has said that when this mix runs out, I am never allowed to have it again. In not too many years, however, I will be a legal adult and I can drink whatever I want, and that will be a cappuccino!!! Once again, yum, yum delicicous! Try it, if you have never. It will change your life, LOL. JK JK. (Maybe... **evil laugh**)
Today I also tried pear yogurt. It was actually pretty good, even with the mushy little lumps of pear in it. Of course it was Yoplait. Yoplait makes all of the strange and crazy flavors out there, as I have established with my friend earlier today. Usually pear and yogurt don't really mesh, but this does. Trust me.
And, on a super happy and excited note, I GOT 3RD PLACE IN THE "OTHER" CATEGORY IN THE SCIENCE FAIR!!!!!!! GUESS WHO IS GOING TO REGIONALS?????? YES, MOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Funno!!!! I love Science Fairs. They are fun. (Big shoutout 2 Smiley!!!!)
Anyways, got to go read Sherlock Holmes (my latest obsession). Have fun! Keep livin'!
-Maddie! (I wonder how many exclamation points I have in this blog.... I'm blaming the caffeine.... imagine me on hot chocolate, times 3. Yah. It's that bad, LOL)

Coffee Could Possibly Be Used as an Effective Torture Method

Hi, guys!!!!
I would like to tell you about my homeroom. I have Gym first period, so I have a hallway locker. A really good location, because me and my friends and my friend's friends can hang out there until Dean Paige comes by with the bullhorn. Plus, I have a top locker, and I don't have anyone underneath me, so I am not fighting for space (funny story... you'll have to ask me personally about that one...) But, anyway, then I go to the Auditorium until 8:00, which is when the torture of Gym class begins. Gym is actually quite a good homeroom to have, because you get the cushy, padded seats, and a huge screen to watch the often comical announcements on. Plus, I have two friends in there, so it's all good. (Until next semester, which starts in 10 days, which is when I get a new homeroom... Emergent Tech... ew...... and don't get me started on semester exams...) Anyways, I'm usually one of the first ones in, if I'm not wandering the hallways completing miscellaneous tasks. Of course, my two friends are always the last ones in, so I usually must sit in my seat until they come, and we can hang out until the bell rings. However, my seat is right next to a huge group of loud and obnoxious guys whose main topics of conversation are football (which I don't understand), food, and how deprived they are because their parents do not let them shoot squirrels with their BB guns. Anyways, today I got fed up, so I left and sat and just waited for my friends. They all shouted "bye" at me. It gave me satisfaction to leave them behind. Small pleasures.
Speaking of pleasures, today I tried strong, plain coffee today. It was the opposite of pleasant. I took one sip, made a face, and continued to eat my potato. Honestly, I would rather drink medicine. It was NASTY. I don't understand how people willingly drink that stuff. Like, ew. I now understand why Starbucks puts all the frilly stuff on top of and in it. Because, otherwise, everyone would drink it and spit it out. And how is that for business??
I have another topic to discuss. It is the Science Fair. Try to keep up, but you might not get it. So, today, in History, I found out that the Science Fair had just gotten a little more interesting, and I was excited. In spite of this, I then went to Language Arts and I wasn't so excited anymore. Actually, I wasn't excited at all. Because, I'm so DONE with all of this "interesting" rubbish. I mean, I have WAAAAAAYYYYYYY better things to do than even think about this. So, as a result, not only this particular interesting thing is DTM (dead to me), but the whole societal interestingness is DTM. For now. The entire middle school population of them is SSSSSOOOOO 7 hours ago. Totally. Keep up, will ya?? So, there are most DEFINITELY no Blocks of Wood in my future for at least another year. I've got all the time in the world. And, I advise everyone to do the same as me, if you even know what I'm talking about... And, you know what?? I'll find the best Block of Wood when I'm not looking for it. so, I'm just chillin' and livin'. It will just have to wait. WOO-HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Back to topics more people will actually understand... I'm going to a winter dance this Friday, sponsored by the cheerleaders. (Yes, cheerleaders... I've been friends with 3 of them in the last year, and some of them aren't bad. SOME!!!) But, anyway, they're "crowning the king and queen of the 8th grade". This makes me mad. You can bet that it will not be the people with the highest GPA, or one that is kind to everyone, or one that participates in school functions and community service. It's going to be the girl with the straightest hair, and the tightest jeans, and the one that walks like she owns the school, and treats everyone like she is sooooo above them. It's going to be the one that always has someone to hang out with, and the one that gossips about the A-listers and doesn't know my name. It's going to be the one that everyone knows about and secretly hates, the one that everyone in school not friends with her wants her taken down. It's gonna be that one. Just wait.

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spelling Bees and Substitutes

Hello!!!
Back with the Mac, and so much happier :)
Anyway, just wanted to tell you about this Language Arts substitute I had today. I know that I blogged about how I hate when kids are mean to teachers and stuff, but substitutes are the exception. Especially when they are crazy and share random tidbits of knowledge. Like the fact that we should not go to college (he used Paris Hilton to prove that one), "nobody needs to know my name", and "I don't need no dishwasher, I wanna wash 'em with my hands." Umm, ok, whatever floats your boat...
Also, I just wanted to let you know that you should never let a ten year old tweeze your eyebrows. This person at my lunch table did, and half of them are gone. They are also pointy....
And, finally, the spelling bee just got a tad more interesting. All I'm saying. Well, technically, not to me, yet to my friends... LOL :) they aren't even doing it!!!

Bad Television Nightly

Hi, guys!!!
I am coming to you from... a netbook. :( My Mac is getting updated, so I was downgraded to... this. So, if my post is short, it is probably because I am becoming insanely frusterated with these tiny keys and bad screen layout. See, my shoulders are already cramping from trying to type for so long on this tiny little thing. Ugh.
I'm sitting here on the couch, watching a Disney show that I have already seen tons and tons and tons and tons of times. This is because there is absolutely nothing at all on, except for junk and reruns that I've seen even more times than I've seen this one. Ew.
School is back on tomorrow. Ugghhhhh... joy.
Anyway, getting annoyed with this computer... TTFN!!!

Gas Station Food is Delicious

Hello!!!
So, today, I went to go see Sherlock Holmes at the movie theater. It was pretty darn awesome!!! I was afraid that the idea of it would be taken and loosely constructed into something much more theatrically and cinematically correct than what the books are, but it was both a great movie and true to the books! If you have time, you should totally go see it. I found it quite interesting, though others obviously did not. Some people were too busy creating licorice bows, LOL. But, anyways, it had a great plot line, and true Sherlock Holmes deduction and methods. Genius!!!
Also, I went to a restaurant where they had a fish tank that was meant to resemble the tank in Finding Nemo. The waiter said, and I quote, "See, there is Nemo and his dad and then some other random fishes." Well, the people I was with happened to notice that one such fish was dead. Lovely. So I told him, and he told the manager, and it caused quite a stir. It made me crack up. They wouldn't take it out, though. I really wanted to see it, because it was up really high, so they would've had to go on a ladder with the net and everything. I just hope that that fishie went to fishie heaven.
I would also like to touch on the subject of gas station food. See, everything in Florida seems to be connected to a gas station. For instance, I got my birthday cake from the gas station. Today, we also visited an orange stand, conveniently located in **gasp** a gas station parking lot. And, we got this big half bushel bag of oranges, and, boy those things were mongo!!! We weighed them, and they were 5 pounds each!!! JK, they were like 1/2ish, but, that is a large, pudgy orange. My theory is that the gas seeped into them and mutated them. Dun dun dun dun.
That's all for today, folks!!! See ya!!!
